Fashola Honours CSP Jimoh, Calls For Passion In Public Service
Apr 20, 2009 - The Lagos State Government Monday honoured the immediate past Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Alausa Police Station, CSP Amusa Jimoh (rtd), with a Certificate of Commendation and a brand new model Toyota Avensis just as the State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), called for dedication to duty among public servants.
In his remarks at the short presentation ceremony at the Lagos House, Alausa, Governor Fashola also called for passion in carrying out public service which he described as noble.
“I hope this presentation will inspire others to trust that public service is a noble service and those who do it with the passion that is needed will never walk away empty handed”, the Governor said, assuring that the public service is always rewarded by those who benefit from it”.
Describing Mr. Amusa Jimoh as a dutiful officer who performed his duties with total passion, commitment and devotion, Governor Fashola declared, “In the days when I served as Chief of Staff to the Governor, I knew Amusa Jimoh as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Alausa Police Station. I recognized him as a dutiful officer and even when I assumed duty as Governor, he continued to discharge his duties, to my knowledge, with diligence, very keen professionalism and passion for serving his people”.
“As he retires, and I wish him very restful and rewarding retirement, I thought it would be appropriate to also express the appreciation of our State for his service”, Governor Fashola said, adding, “the car and the Certificate of Commendation are the token gestures that, I hope in some way, will convey to you how appreciated your services are”.
“The Certificate is in appreciation of your professionalism in doing your duty and the car is to assist you to move around in retirement”, the Governor said.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Mr. Jide Sanwoolu, had described CSP Jimoh as a loyal officer and a gentleman per excellence who had earlier retired from the Police Service after a meritorious service.
Lagos State Government, the Commissioner said, is a Government which recommends and appreciates a loyal and dutiful officer, adding that the Certificate of Commendation is in recognition of his service to the State while the car is to ameliorate his challenges after retirement.
The ceremony was also witnessed by members of the State Executive Council, top Police Officers including Area Commander, Area F, Ikeja, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and other top Government functionaries.
CSP Jimoh retired after 35 years of service in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
