Wesley Cathedral New Church Building Project
May 31, 2009 - I am pleased to be at this occasion, organized by the Wesley Cathedral, Lagos to raise funds towards the speedy completion of its new church building project. However, before I proceed further, let me congratulate the leadership and the membership of the Light Bearers Society on the 18th anniversary celebration of the association.
From available information, the touch bearers are a vibrant body of devoted members of the church, whose focus and commitment has been to render services to God and humanity. While congratulating you on this occasion, may I also commend your sense of devotion, dedication and commitment towards expanding the kingdom of God. I urge you to continue in the good work, and also wish you many more years of fruitful service in the vine yard of God.
As mentioned earlier, this gathering was put together by this great congregation to raise funds and donation towards the on-going church building project.
The Wesley cathedral, Lagos has over the years been consistent and committed in the teachings of the word of God and to the vision and objectives of its founding fathers, of winning souls into the kingdom of God.
The continuation of the church building project for which funds are being generated today is a testimony of years of devotion, dedication and commitment to the service of God and members of the larger society. I have no doubt that this building project when completed would further advance the cause of the gospel of Christ, in Lagos State and indeed, Nigeria.
While commending your efforts in this regard, I must also emphasized the need for every member of the society, especially religious leaders to endeavour to achieve peace, social and human development through religion. We must strive to always achieve peace with fellow members of the society as preached by all religions. More than ever, we need a peaceful environment to function effectively in the society. The government also requires a peaceful atmosphere to effectively deliver the dividends of democracy.
Finally, I congratulate you all on this occasion, and urge every one present to donate generously towards the church building project. The Methodist church, Nigeria is a foremost orthodox church in the global history of Christianity. They are recognized and appreciated for their simplicity and integrity. I have no doubt therefore, particularly with the caliber of men and women in this congregation, that the money realized towards this project, would be judiciously utilized.
I thank you all for listening and God bless
