It is not very often that I have the urge to write about football; rather, I prefer to discuss it because discussions allow me to better express my passion for the game (which is now an open secret) and share the thoughts and views of others. Lately, a friend and I have been discussing some interesting perspectives about football and life and, in particular, the Nigerian social, political and economic life.

Thought For Today: The Enemy Called Procrastination

My dear colleagues, This month, I will devote time to fighting an enemy within. This enemy, I have called procrastination and if we allow, it becomes an enemy that lives with us, destroying our capacity to achieve the best. Remember the Yoruba adage that says 'if a wall does not have holes, lizards cannot make its hollowness home'. In other words we can by our own inactions undermine our ability to perform to the limits of our potentials.

This is a confirmation of humanity's common aspiration; our natural tendency to crave improvement. While we are alive and active, we seek always to make the good better and the better best. That is how civilization came to attain its current status.

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State

My Friends, This month we shall dwell on the need for change. I am inspired to write this piece on change because of the happenings in the United States of America where an agent (or is it preacher) of change is making history. Someone has said that the only thing constant in life is change. In other words, whether we like it or not, change happens. The concern is, are we anticipating change and if yes, how prepared are we?
